Activist Dreamer, Young Progressive Democrats of America
Belen was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She arrived to the United States with her family when she was 6 years old. She began to become active in the immigrant rights community and in politics when she witnessed the effects it had on her family and personal life as an undocumented student in 2012 after graduating high school in Florence, AZ. Belen has helped organize student marches through Arizona State University that led to winning in-state tuition for DACA students at public universities in AZ, as well as helping fight against deportations in her community. Her passion to give back led her to work for Mi Familia Vota in 2015 where she registered minority voters and organized citizenship fairs for low income families. She later joined the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign as a staffer in December 2015 and is now attending ASU as a Political Science major. Belen is one of the co-founders of the new student organization, Undocumented Students for Education Equity on campus and next May when she graduates she will be the first in her family with a college degree.
