Co-Founder, People for Bernie
Charles Lenchner is co-founder of People for Bernie. Over the last few years he has been at the forefront of many significant political moments: Founder of Ready for Warren, Digital Director for Zephyr Teachout for Governor, digital organizer at Occupy Wall Street, Digital Director at the Working Families Party, Co-Founder of Progressive Democrats of America, Assistant to the Campaign Director – Dennis Kucinich for President 2004.
His specialty is digital strategy and online engagement. He is currently State Strategies Director for Democrats.com and on staff with Act.tv, an online video startup. In 2009 he founded Organizing 2.0, an annual conference in New York for labor and community organizers. He has trained more than 3000 people in digital organizing.
Lenchner was born in Pittsburgh, grew up in Israel, and lives in Brooklyn. In 1988 he spent time in military prison as a refusenik for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He has spoken previously at the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Netroots Nation, the US Social Forum, LabourStart, Labor Notes and the US State Dept.
